Ts. Dr. Vimala Perumal is Yayasan TM alumni and graduated from Multimedia University in the field of Film and Animation, 2003.She has worked on several independent short films and feature films throughout her career. Her work received wide acclaim and was screened at International Film Festivals in recognition of their comical relay of Indian life in the country. Her achievements include accolades for her winning script for the feature film “Chalanggai” from the Hubert Bals Fund of the International Film Festival in Rotterdam and The Seed Grant from National Geographic All Roads Film Project.
Her debut short film was among the top 60 in the world, which was screened at the 30th Busan International Short Film Festival in Korea. Her debut feature film entitled “Vilaiyaatu Pasange” (Playful Folks) has its successful run at International Screens, GSC.
Her 2020 film, Vedigundu Pasangge, was the first-ever Malaysian Tamil movie to surpass the 1 million collection mark. It also won the award for Best Film at the Norway Tamil Film Festival. Besides winning two Silver Awards at International level, “Vetti Pasanga” has also break the record and achieve the highest box office collection for Malaysian Tamil Movie under Wajib Tayang Scheme during its release on 2nd January 2014. It also marks the first Malaysian Tamil Movie to be on ASTRO First.
She rejoined academia at her alma mater, MMU as a Senior Lecturer and Head of Department (Foundation & Humanities) in the Faculty of Creative Multimedia in Multimedia University, Cyberjaya.
